In recent times, Thai food has emerged as one of the world’s favourite cuisines. Thai food is not just delicious; it is also extremely healthy with the emphasis on fresh ingredients and a subtle balance of flavours. Most of the ingredients used in Thai cooking carry medicinal benefits. A wide range of fresh herbs and spices, such as cumin, nutmeg cloves or bay leafs plus, of course chilli, ginger and garlic are always found in Thai kitchens. The proper use of these ingredients is regarded as a culinary art in Thailand. Many of these herbs and spices can be purchased in western countries, but cannot compare to fresh Thai products. Maybe that is an explanation why even an excellent Thai dinner in your own country can never match the exciting experience of a perfectly prepared meal in Thailand. Enjoy a range of options for learning to cook Thai food in three distinctive areas of Thailand. The cool northern city of Chiang Mai; the capital city of Bangkok and the tropical island of Phuket – each with their own culinary specialities and all uniquely “Thai”.
